"Incidental Music"
Tis’ fallow ground from which one hears the words
incidental musick
For I am no more likely to provoke an incident
than to refuse the inevitability of Musick.
Be that as in May
great musick always springs forth
in wind and aire and strings,
Flying from the creator's mind
to mine own heart.
So fast the metamorphosis that sweeps my attention,
no sense can be made of its direction.
What appears as underscore,
suggestion and direction
on stage is
Impossible
to ignore,
overtaking any and all sense of narrative form.
So fast the metamorphosis that sweeps my attention,
no sense can be made of its direction.
Only at the peril of my own Vision and Truth
do I deny the power of Musick.
